Harmony Day 2025
Walk Safely to School Day - 22 May 2026
It was encouraging to see strong participation from students and families in the 2026 Walk Safely to School Day. This national initiative promotes safe walking and commuting practices among primary school children across Australia, supporting healthy lifestyles, road safety awareness, and the reduction of traffic congestion.
Our students were warmly welcomed by staff members and two police officers from the Ryde Local Area Command. The officers addressed the entire school community, reinforcing the importance of proactive and responsible pedestrian behaviours.
Anzac Day 2026
On 24th April, our school gathered in the COLA for a simple yet solemn Anzac Day service, led by our Year 6 students. The ceremony honoured the sacrifices and contributions of Australian and New Zealand soldiers in wars. All students sat respectfully throughout the proceedings, reflecting on the significance of the day.
On Saturday, 25th April, our student leaders proudly represented the Smalls Road Public School community at the Ryde Council Anzac Day service held at Anzac Park, West Ryde. Demonstrating respect, dignity, and a deep sense of responsibility, they upheld the spirit of Anzac Day by honouring the sacrifices and legacy of those who served. Mila delivered a touching reading of an Anzac Day poem alongside students from selected primary schools, while Ethan and Lily respectfully laid a wreath on behalf of our community. Through their participation, our student leaders exemplified the values of remembrance, courage, and community that define the Anzac tradition.
